There are literally no limits to what you can do in Cascade when it comes to winter sports. From the mild to the wild, the snow, sun, amenities, events, and lodgings in Cascade are second to none.
Whether you long for solitude, the adventure of making new friends, testing your skills, or just having the ride or the time of your life, the mountains (lakes, streams, and rivers too!) of Cascade are hard to beat.
Cascade is your year-round playground, and here’s a full list of events, things to do, and places to go to prove it!
Ice Fishing Competitions
Just because the sun is gone, doesn’t mean you don’t have a reason to still say,“fish on!”
Anglers come from all over to take part in the many local ice fishing competitions we have here during the winter, but you and your whole family can enjoy one of our favorite frozen sports just for fun too!
The Sled Dog Race
We are so privileged to be able to host and enjoy one of the most iconic and wonderful winter competitions out there: The Idaho Sled Dog Challenge!
Join us on January 29, 2023, for this official Iditarod and Yukon Quest Qualifier race!
Snowmobiling
If you love to snowmobile, then you’re in luck! Cascade is surrounded by miles and miles of prime snowmobiling territory, and it’s looking like it’s going to be a great year for snow!
Sledding and Snowtubing
Are you looking for some real snow? We’ve got it up here, long before and long after all the white stuff in the valley is gone. Sledding hills and areas to enjoy this family-fun wintertime pastime abound in our neck of the woods, and here’s where to go!
Silent Nights
Remember the stars? We do, and we would love to share them with you! It’s getting more difficult to not only look up and enjoy the stars but learn about them too in urban areas.
The Valley County Astronomical Society is working diligently to preserve our dark skies, and teach about and share them too! Enjoy a silent night this winter, the Cascade Idaho way.
Cascade Winter Wonderland
The Cascade Rec and Aquatic Center is going to be sponsoring an ice skating rink this winter along with the Moose Dash (a snowshoe race) on January 20th, Broomball Tournament on Feb. 10th, and Ski to the Moon at Hasbrouck Ranch on Feb. 24th.
Nordic Skiing & Snow Shoeing
The miles of both groomed and ungroomed trails and the months and months of beautiful snow come together to create the perfect habitat for nordic, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
Here’s where to go, and how to get there, just bring your skis, poles, and snowshoes!
Snowboarding and Skiing
If you are a boarder or skier, don’t miss your opportunity to hit the slopes in one of the most beautiful settings on earth!
Tamarack Resort has over 20 kilometers of machine-groomed trails for your carving pleasure, and views that go for miles.
Staycation
You don’t have to be an athlete, an ice fisherman, or enjoy the cold to enjoy winter in Cascade! We offer a ton of amenities and places to stay and get away from the hustle and bustle and roadside slush of your urban winter!
Stay the weekend, stay for a night, stay during the week, or plan your corporate or family retreat!
