Morel Mushroom Hunting

A favorite “sport” for locals and visitors alike is “morel mushroom hunting.” Once the weather warms up, usually around the end of May, there is a short window of opportunity to pick these delicacies and become gourmet chefs for your friends and family. When collecting, it’s best to use a mesh bag so as you carry your findings through the woods, spores will drop along the way to become next years’ crop. Be educated about what you are picking because there are poisonous mushrooms out there as well!
