What’s popping in Cascade this Spring?

Cascade-Stock-Photos-2022-163

Winter is waning, so what’s there to do besides sit and wait for summer to come?

A lot, actually! Here’s not only what’s going on in Cascade, but in the skies, streams, rivers, and more surrounding your mountain playground!

Dark Skies, Bright Stars.

Mark your calendars for something a little unique, and something that you are sure to cherish.

Saving the Dark Documentary and Night Viewing at the Cascade Cultural Center

March 18th, Come and watch a great movie about our dark skies, view our night sky, and learn how you can take part in helping us preserve the wonders of the skies.  We will have a telescope available to view through along with binoculars.  Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Let us know you are coming by contacting Shauna Arnold by emailing shaunaarnold@horizonsleteam.org or calling 208-634-6906.

Disc Golf: the best of both worlds for young and old.

Flanking The Strand (which is an absolutely beautiful nature trail that introduces you to best that Cascade has to offer from beginning to end) is a disc golf course that is unlike anything else you might have played before.

Towering trees, some marshy areas, fun elevation changes and the peace and quiet that only Cascade provides make this a course fit for everyone, from the novice to the experienced!

Shhhh….we’re hunting morels…

Even if you have no morals, you can always have morels! Spring is perfect for morel hunting, when the spring sun hits the moist soils of our forests and other secluded places. Be mindful of our neighbors, respect private property, and as always, leave no trace.

Spring Hiking/Biking

While it’s called mud season for a reason, there are miles and miles of paved or gravel trails that beckon you to get out there and get some miles under the soles of your feet or tread of your tires.

The foothills around Boise may be impassable, but you can catch some peace and capture a piece of our backcountry for your soul!

Fish, on through spring.

It’s not a secret that we are famous for ice fishing. But spring runoff and breakup create some opportunities to create fish stories to last a lifetime. We have a great community of businesses that love to support anglers of every stripe, who know where and what’s biting and when!
